I only dont like the fact that the plexmedia service automatically starts when I startup my pc. I installed plex media server and everything works perfectly. I just managed to configure my first Linux Mint PC (18.2 Cinnamon 64bit). So this means I’m at a bit of a dead end I’m afraid? Can you let me know where I’m going wrong? Thanks. My plex libraries are on different mounted drives. unless there is anything you want to change under advanced simply click save changes. on add new media select / then you folder in home/your user name/the folder you created. in general select what you created (in my case tv series) so tv shows. Plex runs under user plex and caused me issues initially. click to remount (may need a reboot) open plex. Id take a look at the permissions for the folders having issues. The instructions here say I need to create a file to hold the username and password, so I try to create /etc/plex.cred with the following credentials Re: Plex media server cant scan All folders. so I go to step 2 - “ Create the credentials file to pass to the CIFS/SMB server during mount” So I assume as the shared drive is already recognised it means I don’t need to prepare it. It does offer a free account for its users. It’s a great alternative to Kodi and is mostly used to create an offline media collection that can be synced and watched across multiple devices. Plex seems touchy to me, but once you get it working right it appears to be solid. OK, so I had a go at this and of course it was a complete disaster.
